Most maths programmes for young children optimise for speed and coverage — more topics, more worksheets, faster answers.

MathsKid does the opposite: one question a day, chosen to be doable for the child's grade but designed to stretch them past what a classroom lesson taught.

The belief behind it

In the age of AI, going deep on fewer ideas matters more than covering many quickly.

A machine can calculate. What a child needs to build is the habit of sitting with a hard question, trying an approach, being wrong, and trying again.

That habit is mathematical thinking — and it's built through depth, not through more worksheets.

The card carries the question only, never the solution — a child (and parent) gets a real chance to think before the guided solution walks through how it's solved.

Draw a bar model: 1 unit for Mia's age, and 4 matching units for her father's age (since he is 4 times as old).

Total units = 1 + 4 = 5 units, and each unit is worth Mia's age, 7 years.

Sum of their ages = 5 × 7 = 35

Answer: C

On frustration

Getting stuck is the point, not the problem.

A child may feel frustrated, confused, or scared to try at first. That's normal — it's what real learning feels like.

We fear the new topic, we don't understand, so we feel frustrated — but the brain is actually exercising. We explore the answer, and when we're wrong, we learn from it.

No matter how long it takes — as long as a child never gives up and keeps trying, one day that piece of knowledge clicks, and it becomes part of them.
